My Magelang + Jogjakarta Itinerary
Hola!
I just went back from my Indonesia trip with my husband. And I would like to share my experience regarding my trip. Mind you, its going to be quite long story and all based on my personal experience & opinion. And its not sponsored! I just simply blogging for my personal memory & maybe with my share I can help others too 😇😇
Actually last time me and my husband thought going to Indonesia will be cheap because SGD have a very strong currency to Indonesian Rupiah, but actually that's not really true.
Because we need to pay quite expensive for the car transport. FYI, after our stayed at Semarang, me and my husband went to Magelang to stay 1 night and the next day we went to Jogja city.
We hire car to go Jomblang cave, Prambanan + Ratu Boko temple. Before our trip, I did asked few travel agent about the transport and I personally disappointed with De Jong Holiday. Why? At first when I email, they were very responsive about my inquiry. But they gave me so expensive price (with English guide, driver, petrol, and car) that I didn't want it.
After few days, the owner of De Jong email me again and asked whether I have any issue with the price that he gave. I said yes, he gave me too expensive. He said he can revise the price since I just need car with petrol and driver. So he gave me new price around IDR 1 million (which I still found very expensive). I asked few questions to him and he NEVER reply my email anymore. Oh well, I guess he think I'm just a small peanut and can't earn much from me so he didn't bother to reply me anymore. But as a customer, I feel disappointed and I won't recommend De Jong Holiday to my friends/family 👎👎👎
After that I google again on Trip Advisor and a lot of them said to go to Yogyes.com to have trustable driver and travel agent. After some research and messaging here and there, I decided to use Akar Transport (you can see the website here) as they gave the cheapest price and the owner Pak Roni is responsive to my inquiry. FYI, Akar Transport didn't know that I wrote review and I really satisfied their service, that's why I write down my experience with them.
Akar Transport only charged me IDR 475k for car, driver and petrol. And some more, the car can be used for 13 hours (include driver + petrol) and can be used till Jomblang Cave! Very good deal!! Additional hour will be charge 10%. Others charged me IDR 500k for 12 hours (and can't bargain) 😑😑 I don't need to pay any deposit with them. Pak Roni just simply ask for my mobile number and that's all! 👍👍👍
My driver, Pak Eka also very polite and didn't talk much if I didn't ask (sometimes I don't really like too talkative driver because made me can't rest and talk to my husband😆😆). I strongly recommend you to use Akar Transport at Jogja.
My husband refused to drive car at Indonesia was because simply he was scared with how Indonesians drive. He said its kinda scary to driving car at Indonesia plus the traffic was horrible (although the traffic at province is better than the one at Jakarta 😂😂).
So this's our itinerary 4D3N at Magelang + Jogja :
Day 1 (Magelang) :
- Reached Magelang around 3PM
- Lunch at Artos Mall, after that take Grab Car to my hotel at Shankara
- Checked in and rest awhile, after that we went to Pawon temple which only 10 minutes walking from Shankara (too bad Pawon temple was under construction, although you still can visit but we didn't took any pics).
- Back to hotel, rest awhile
- Dinner at Restaurant Benoa (located beside Shankara only)
- End of day 1
Day 2 (Magelang + Jogja) :
- Early morning (4.30 AM) went to see Borobudur sunrise
- Around 9AM back to Shankara, rest awhile and had breakfast at hotel
- Left Magelang to Jogja city (1.5 hours journey by car)
- Around 2 PM reach Hotel Amaris Malioboro and then went out for lunch nearby
- Went to have spa massage at Saarah Spa (recommend)
- Dinner nearby hotel
- End of day 2
Day 3 (Jomblang cave, Prambanan, Ratu Boko) :
- 7AM left our hotel to go Jomblang cave
- Reach Jomblang around 9AM and do activity there until 12.30PM
- Left Jomblang at 12.30 PM and after that went to Prambanan temple
- Reach Prambanan around 2.30 PM and walked around to see the temple
- Left Prambanan to watch sunset at Ratu Boko (nearby Prambanan. Strongly recommend to buy
combo ticket from Prambanan)
- Bought some food to bring back to SG at Bakpia Kurnia Sari (very recommend!!)
- Bought some batik at Rumah Batik (not recommend)
- Back to hotel
- End of day 3
Day 4 (Back to SG) :
- Breakfast at hotel and after that went to airport
Basically we only visited Borobudur, Jomblang cave, Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko during our stay at Magelang and Jogja. My husband not very interested to see the keraton so we skip that from our itinerary. Jomblang cave took a lot of our time because we spent half day there and location is near Gunung Kidul, so it took 2 hours/way. I wish I can spent more time in Magelang and Jogja so I can visit Gereja Ayam, Puthuk Setumbu and Gunung Merapi. But overall me and my husband had a great time at both Magelang and Jogja!
