Grab Car At Semarang, Magelang & Jogjakarta

I would like to gave some review about Grab Car at Semarang, Magelang and Jogjakarta. Since I just came back last month from that 3 cities. This is not sponsored and all based on my personal experience.
FYI, Grab Car is already launch at Magelang. Although before I came to Magelang I did email Grab Car customer service and asked whether they already operate at Magelang and they info me "no, they haven't operate at Magelang". But actually they already launch Grab at Magelang 😑😑
I was very impressed that Grab Car at that 3 cities was super super fast!! Every time I booked it only took me few seconds to get my driver. Thumbs up! 👍👍👍
I found Grab Car at the 3 cities were cheaper compare to Jakarta. Sometimes at Semarang, I could only pay IDR 3k for my journey (which only 7 minutes car drive). The price suppose to be IDR 9k but I put some code promo and the price become IDR 3k only, how cheap! 😱😱😱
When I was at Mall Artos Magelang, I book Go-Car to reach my hotel at Shankara (near Borobudur). Because I thought Grab haven't operate at Magelang. One thing that I don't like using Go-Car/Gojek was they didn't provide free message with the driver inside the application (not like Grab). So after book, you need to SMS/called your driver to decide the meeting point.
After I got my driver, my driver told me why I didn't book with Grab (my driver was also a Grab driver). After he took my order with Go-Car, he actually a bit hesitate to called me because I using foreign number. Luckily I called him with my Indonesian number so we set our meeting point. So I told my story with my driver and he told me Grab actually already launch at Solo, Magelang, Jogja etc. He said once it launch at Jogja, usually Magelang will be included also. Hoahh. Why Grab customer service gave me wrong info 😑😑
Anyway, he said Grab at Magelang still have conflict with the conventional taxi there. So a lot of Grab driver a bit reluctant to pick up passenger especially at the shopping mall. He said hotels at Magelang/Borobudur still allowing their guest to take passenger and not so strict to online taxi (not like at Bali. You can see my review about online taxi at Bali here).
When I left Shankara to Hotel Amaris at Malioboro, we took Grab and for 1.5 hrs journey, it only cost us around IDR 125k!!! My Hubs even asked, will the driver rugi the gasoline or not 1.5 hrs journey and only get paid IDR 125k 😆😆 But the driver said he also just drop passenger from Jogja city to Borobudur and about to went back to Jogja city. Just nice I ordered, so he took mine 😀😀
Using Grab at Jogja also very fast. But according to my driver, Grab driver didn't want to take passenger from Adi Sucipto airport because they had incident before with the taxi at the airport. If there's a passenger order Grab, the driver will asked to meet outside the airport which means you will need to walk to meet at the safe meeting point. I found it a bit troublesome. But its for the driver own good also so I can't complain.
I really found Grab safe my life a lot during my trip at Indonesia. If you're a foreigner and don't have Indonesian phone number, I strongly recommend you to use Grab. Because you can send message to your driver inside the application.
