Renew Indonesian Passport In Singapore
Hola!
Happy New Year and Happy CNY!! My first blog of the year. I would like to share my experience on renewing Indonesian passport in Singapore.
Unlike in KL which is very 'stressful' to renew (for me), Singapore has simpler process and (surprisingly) less paperwork to bring. They also make some changes on the process.
Now getting queue number will be at security guard (main entrance of the embassy). If you come before the embassy opening hour, it'll be quite packed & a bit messy but still controllable.
The staff will ask you to queue, present your Singapore IC (they no longer keep your Indonesian ID card/driver license) and change with their visitor pass (thumbs up for this process because it save a lot of time for visitors).
Then they will check your bag (those backpack bag may not allow to bring inside embassy, new rules) and you will need to inform the staff what purpose you coming (renew passport, etc).
You will need to get document presented to the staff. Documents they ask are :
- Current passport on hand
- Copy of passport
- Copy of Singapore IC + copy of your Permanent Resident re-entry permit (just in case)
- Perdim 11 (can download from embassy website. Strongly encourage to fill in everything before you reach embassy to save time)
Among all of docs I have prepared (I even bring my marriage certificate, birth certificate, KK, my husband IC, etc), they ask for my PR re-entry permit 🤣🤣 Which I didn’t bring! Luckily, the staff said its OK, gave me queue number and ask me to go to level 1.
Inside main building level 1, after my number shown in TV, I passed my docs and the staff gave another queue number to do fingers bio metric & took photo (my pics looked sucks btw -_-).
After all done, I went out and paid for the passport fee (SGD $ 35) and it will take 3 working days. I can collect mine on 4 February 2020. Collection time from 2.30 PM - 5 PM. And embassy (still) don't issue electronic passport 😓 Don't forget to keep the receipt of the payment because you will need to use it to collect the new passport.
I need 1 hour to complete renew my passport. I can say its very efficient and great job! 👏👏 After experiencing very 'painful' process of renewing passport in Indonesian embassy in KL, this is like heaven. 😇😇
Minor things that I really hate is the embassy has so many mosquitoes around!!! I was bitten 13x during my 1 hour time in embassy 😭😭 All were from the security guard while waiting for embassy to open & from their canteen. So shocking because I never encounter this before.
One of the mosquito I saw was with black and white color which make me so scare it’s dengue mosquitoes!!! Indonesian embassy, you should consider do fogging inside your building!!! For everyone going to Indonesian embassy, please don't forget to bring mosquito repellent!
QUICK UPDATE ON COLLECTING MY NEW PASSPORT :
I came to embassy on 4th February 2020, went to level 1 inside main building (no queue when I reach 4PM) and go straight away to the counter and gave the receipt of the passport payment. Within few minutes, I received my new passport already and all done. 👏👏 Don't forget to double check everything : name, DOB, etc.
Till next time.
Ciao

Update as of August 2020 :
Due to recent Circuit breaker in Singapore, you can’t walk in to Indo embassy anymore. You will need to book appointments by checking the slot at embassy website. Heard a lot of complaints because the slot always fully booked & there’s no response on embassy phone/email 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I’m just so glad I did mine early of the year. At least I have another 5 years before I need to do this hassle again 🤣
Till next time.
